Apprentice Technician

Assists the Maintenance Technicians in an on-the-job-training (OJT) status to become familiar with and acquire skills for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all assigned aircraft as directed and mentored.

Will also be responsible for :-

1. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to accomplish services and repairs on aircraft and mechanical components, as appropriate to skill level and supervision, on rotary wing aircraft with approved methods and procedures.

2. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to examine mechanical components/items to detect and diagnose malfunctions, within assigned skillset.

3. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to test mechanical components operations, using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction as appropriate.

4. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to remove, replace, service, prepare, preserve, clean, and store mechanical assembles or components as directed within skillset.

5. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to use and perform user maintenance on common and special tools.

6. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to replace or repair worn or damaged components using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment, when required.

7. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to assemble, adjust, and diagnose parts and components according to applicable manuals and directives when assigned per skillset.

8. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to test installed parts and accessories for leakage, continuity, and functionality, using test equipment when directed per skillset.

9. Observes and participates, under OJT mentorship, to remove mechanical parts from crate or packing container.

10. Responsible for tools and equipment inventory assigned by the Supervisor/Mentor.

11. Must be self-motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic, and able to participate in the diagnosis of and assisting in solving complex mechanical problems.

12. Must be willing to attend course of instruction in aircraft maintenance related study leading to a certification whilst working a minimum of 4 hours a day for GAL at customer location.

Qualification
• Completion of Grade 10.

• Must be willing to enroll and attend course of instruction in aircraft maintenance technology leading to a certification while simultaneously working for GAL.
Experience
• Must have solid record of achievement in secondary school with an aptitude and desire to learn about aircraft maintenance.

• Must be willing to work hard while simultaneously enrolled in a course of instruction.
